The SADC Groundwater Management Institute today released a draft position paper on groundwater management in the SADC region. The purpose of the position paper, compiled by Dr Kevin Pietersen and Dr Hans Beekman of SLR Consulting, is to document the status of groundwater management in the region.
The paper is to form the basis of a workshop to be hosted by the SADC-GMI in Johannesburg on 21 September 2016. Representatives from each country will be afforded the opportunity to improve the detail of the paper and highlight challenges facing them. Hydrogeological practitioners and researchers experienced in the region will also contribute. The researchers will incorporate feedback received during the workshop into the document before finalising it.
